Understanding DPI and image resolution helps you get the best possible print. Here's everything you need to know.
DPI (Dots Per Inch) measures how many pixels of your image are printed per inch of paper. The higher the DPI, the sharper and more detailed your print will be.
DPI Formula
DPI = Image Width (pixels) Γ· Print Width (inches)
Example: A 3000px wide image printed at 40cm (15.7 inches) = 3000 Γ· 15.7 = 191 DPI
When you upload your image, our system calculates the DPI for every print size and assigns one of four quality levels.
Your image has enough pixel data for a crisp, detailed print at any size. This is the gold standard for gallery-quality printing.
Tip: Most smartphone cameras (12MP+) will achieve this at small-to-medium print sizes.
Your print will look great when viewed at a normal distance. Very slight softness may be noticeable if examined closely.
Tip: Still perfectly suitable for wall art that will be viewed from 1-2 metres away.
Printable, but may show visible softness or pixelation when viewed up close. Best for smaller sizes or displays viewed from a distance.
Tip: Consider choosing a smaller print size for sharper results.
The image does not have enough resolution for quality printing at this size. The result would appear blurry or pixelated.
Tip: Try uploading a higher-resolution version of your image, or choose a smaller print size.

Smartphones from the last 3-4 years typically shoot at 12MP or higher, which is excellent for most print sizes. DSLR and mirrorless cameras will give even better results.
Before uploading, check your image dimensions. For a large 80Γ120cm print at excellent quality, you need at least 9448 Γ 14173 pixels. Most phone photos are 3000-4000px on the longest side.
Well-lit photos produce better prints. Avoid heavy compression β save images at the highest quality setting your camera allows.
Images downloaded from social media or screenshots are often heavily compressed and low-resolution. Use the original photo file whenever possible.
